I will get some and install them in that fashion. I have this in my truck, and bought a second one for my wife's car. They seem well built, I wish they would have come with some 3M tape to secure them in the door pocket.
I do need to find a better place to mount the tool so it doesn't fly around the car where I can't reach it, but I like that it's there. My friends have made fun of me for getting this, but think about it.what happens if you get stuck on a railroad track with an oncoming train.and your seat belt won't release.or your seat belt does release but your door won't open.or both.how are you going to get out. There are many other situations where this might be an issue.overturned car.water.fire, etc.
I recently had the pleasure of finding out just how hard it is to get car doors open when your battery is dead--did not have to break a window, but what if it were an emergency. If you are hanging upside down along the Florida Turnpike in a canal the last thing you want to have to worry about is how to get you or your kids out of a seatbelt and out of the car. I LOVE this product. The product is small enough to fit in your glove compartment or console and is very well made. Hopefully, we will never have the experience of using it, but we do have the peace of mind of owning it. I bought two of the LifeHammer--one for our car and one for my daughter. We both live in areas where we have either canals, long bridges or swamps very near the highway.
which you really dont need if you attached the hammer with some length of velcro material good product overall. only complaint is the mounting bracket.
The cutter worked great on several scrap pieces of leather straps I had lying around.I did, however, get rid of the black plastic mount, as I couldn't find a good place to screw it into the car. It sits right there next to my right leg and is within easy reach for both me and the passenger. I haven't had to use this and hope that I never do, but if an emergency arises, I'll be glad to have this in the car. Instead, I used some industrial strength Velcro tape to attach the LifeHammer to the driver side of the center console (the head angled down). I also wrapped a small strip of glow-in-the-dark tape around the handle, close to the cutter to make it easier to find at night. Construction is lightweight but sturdy. I've tested it out by whacking away at various junk in the garage and the pints put some good sized dents into things.
